Born in Mumbai, Sneha Subramanian Kanta is an academician with over fifteen years of international teaching experience residing in Mississauga. She is the author of six chapbooks. She has been awarded a 2025 Civic Award of Recognition by the city of Mississauga and a 2025 Cultural Award by Heritage Mississauga. She is the 2025 Woodhaven Artist in Residence at The University of British Columbia. Her collection Hiraeth is an honouree in the RBC Bronwen Wallace Award. Her work has been recognized by Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, The Charles Wallace Trust, The Vijay Nambisan Foundation, Writers' Trust of Canada, and British Council. Her multi-genre work appears in Room, CV2, Grain, and elsewhere. An awardee of the distinguished GREAT scholarship, she has earned a second postgraduate degree in literature from the UK. Her work has been widely anthologized including in The Penguin Book of Indian Poets. She is one of the founding editors at Parentheses Journal.
